IN THE PRESS: Public opposition grows in Texas

News

Texas is experiencing a boom in toll road construction, however public dissatisfaction may be on the rise. The majority of the state’s 500 miles of toll roads have been constructed over the past 10 years, representing one of the most aggressive road toll building programmes in the United States. But a political backlash is rising as residents realise that many major urban freeways are no longer free. While new projects continue to proliferate so does the level of public anger as well attended public meetings and online petitions against tolling become the norm.
